When people say that America is “dumbing down” in my opinion that’s true. When don’t take studying as serious as they use to back then. Back then when the great inventors were alive, even though they say that reading the New York Times for a week can make you acquire more knowledge then they did in their times. However think about the resources we have, we can get information from all around the word with just the click of a button. All they had was their minds and books. Books back then use to be the main source of information, but now we have the internet, TV, radio, and much more. All this resources have made us more lazy and their for people have stopped reading this days. There is not any purpose of reading anymore now that we can just get the information we want from the internet. Another reason why people use to read a lot back then was because that use to be a source of entertainment as well. This days we think of reading as work more then as an source of entertainment. Hopefully reading starts becoming more popular and more interesting for the new generations to come. I’m not sure that there is anything we can do to make people more interested in books then they are in video games, computers, music, TV, movies, and many more that for some people makes us ignorant. In the future to come there will be probably more great inventors but not like the ones that were back then, in today’s world the easiness of obtaining information harms us in a way because we don’t have to worry about reading a twelve chapter book or memorizing all the information when you can just look it up in the internet and save it on your computers.

For the last 6-weeks we been doing a lot of reading, study guides, activities, and much more. Out of all this work I have learned that when trying to do something well done you have to take your time. I learned how to appreciate our teachers because they do a lot for us that we don’t really see. Not all teachers understand their students and even though the teacher seems bad and mean, they might be good but you just can’t see it. In the last 6-weeks we did something called “Quizlet,” it’s a website where you can make your own little flash cards and it gives you different options to study them. I didn’t like this activity because I thought it had no point. We could of been cheating the whole time and get the great we wanted with out even learning the words pronunciation. One of my favorite activities was when we got to watch the movie of on of the books we read. Even though we always or almost always watch a movie of the books we read, this time I liked it more because I though it was funny in a way how the actors looked and the way they acted. I hope this next 6-weeks we don’t continue doing the Quizlet flash cards because I think is pointless.  (223)
